The TREASURE Autumn School will take place in Bath, UK, 19-22 November 2018. This is the second of our series of three seasonal schools and will focus on the specific PhD topics of the TREASURE fellows.

Top international experts will offer attendees the opportunity to interact and learn in an open school, so students external to the TREASURE network are very welcome. Lectures will include Atmospheric modelling (TEC, scintillation, TIDs, troposphere), Tomography, Data assimilation, Scintillation mitigation, Multi-GNSS PPP and RTK and more. Confirmed expert lecturers include many from within the TREASURE network, such as Hans Visser from Fugro Intersite, Cathryn Mitchell from the University of Bath, Richard Langley from the University of New Brunswick, Peter Teunissen from Curtin University, Sreeja Veettil from the University of Nottingham, Sandra Verhagen from Delft University, Jihye Park from Oregon State University, Marcin Grzeiak from the Polish Academy of Science and others to be confirmed.

Location:

The TREASURE Autumn School will be held in the beautiful city of Bath in Southwest England. Bath was founded in the 1st century by the Romans, who used the natural hot springs as a thermal spa. The historic buildings and its setting in the landscape have earned Bath a place on the UNESCO World Heritance List. The TREASURE Autumn School precedes the Bath Christmas Market which can be visited from 22nd November. The famous Stonehenge site, dating back to 3700 BC, is only 50 km away.

The Venue:

The school will be held at the MacDonald Bath Spa Hotel, Sydney Road, Bath, BA2 6NS, United Kingdom.

The hotel has a pleasant ambiance and lots of space to socialize after lectures. It has Spa and fitness facilities, and free WiFi is available throughout the facilities and in the guestrooms. The city center of Bath is only 10 minutes away on foot.

Travel to Bath:         

By carNavigate to Sydney Road, Bath, BA2 6NS, United Kingdom. The Bath Spa Hotel has a spacious parking area and parking is free.
By trainTake the train to the “Bath Spa” railway station. From there you can walk to the hotel in 20 minutes. Or take bus line 265 direction Boreham Field, and exit at Darlington Road (5 stops, 7 minutes), which is 300 meters from the hotel.
By plane

Take the plane to Bristol Airport. From there, a rental car will take you in 40 minutes to the hotel. The airport also has a frequent and fast shuttle bus service to the “Bath Spa” railway station. From there you can walk to the hotel in approx. 20 minutes.

Alternatively, Southampton airport can be used. From there, a rental car will take you in 1:30 hours to Bath (via Stonehenge). Alternatively a shuttle bus service can be used.

For long-haul flights, London Heathrow may be used. From there, a rental car will take you to Bath in 2 hours. Alternatively, Bath can be reached by train using the Heathrow Express to London Paddington station and from there the GWR to Bath Spa. Total journey time 2:15h.
